Favourite Flower Friday

Hydrangea

hydrangeaThis wonderful shrub was one of the few established plants in our garden when we moved here. After a drastic prune in our first year it has repaid us with masses of flowers all year round.

From late spring through summer they are in this magnificent colour range from pink to blue, turning deep crimson red in autumn and then into dried skeletal flowerheads over winter.

In early spring I deadhead and tidy it up a little, and in no time at all fresh green flower clusters reappear to start the process again

  1. As well as the stunning plant, I love the wooden surround. I’ve never seen that before so I’m guessing this is one of your clever ideas Julia!
