Goat’s Rue

Goat's-rueThis Galega officinalis, commonly known goat’s rue, thrives in my sandy soil. I bought it as a small plant from West Dean Gardens in their autumn sale last year, and already it stands taller than me.

It flowers all summer and scrambles over anything in its way, but has very pretty pea-like lilac flowers and responds well to a midsummer chop.

  1. I love this. Looks so delicate and pretty. I wonder if it would make a good cutting flower? Though in general I prefer to see plants growing rather than in vases. Cutting flowers for vases also seems a bit like consigning them to the Departure Lounge!
