Favourite Flower Friday

Calendula officianalis ‘Porcipine’

marigold3Marigolds make a wonderful splash of orange in my garden in late summer. As they are the only flowers I allow in this colour, they give me the perfect excuse to bring out anything that goes with orange in my props shed to take some photographs.marigold-2

My favourite marigold is ‘Porcupine’ with spiky flower heads of vibrant orange. They look wonderful as cut flowers and, as the flowerheads are edible, they make a decorative addition the salad bowl too.

My seeds were originally from T&M, but they have self-seeded in my herb garden for two years since then and are a welcome sight whenever they pop back up.marigold-1
