Favourite Flower Friday

Bill-WallisGeranium ‘Bill Wallis’

I first bought this hardy geranium from Stillingfleet Lodge Nursery in York many years ago. He has followed me everywhere since then like a faithful hound, hopping into pots of special plants I had to take with me each time I moved house, and self-seeding himself freely in and around all the gardens I have lived in since.

This wonderful plant squeezes itself in to any available space and then proceeds to flower from late spring until first frost – it is still in full flower all round my garden now.

Friends and neighbours have benefited too from Bill’s promiscuity, and he’s perfect for plant sales – I pot up excess new seedlings from my borders in early spring and the plants quickly put on growth and are in flower ready for my local museum’s annual plant fair in May.
