Favourite Flower Friday

Diascias are popular as colourful, floriferous and trouble-free bedding – I can see why. These ones in mum’s garden were bought from her local market in early spring and simply planted in containers with a scattering of slow release feed granules. Watered throughout summer, they have flowered profusely ever since – these pictures were taken just last weekend. Pictured above, the deep coral-coloured diascia ‘Juliet’ looks gorgeous next to one of her favourite heucheras.

Next year I will try them in my garden, especially the perennial varieties available that will hopefully overwinter in my sandy soil.
